Women in PR Ghana has crowned its 2023 activities with the annual End of Year Glam Gala & Networking event.

The event which was hosted on December 9th, 2023, at Hotel Tchetche, East Legon, featured Mrs. Janet Sunkwa-Mills, Chairperson, Executive Women Network(EWN) as the special guest speaker.

Speaking on the topic:”Taking Leadership Roles As Women in 2024: The critical keys to open growth doors.”, Mrs. Sunkwa-Mills explained that women will excel in leadership roles, if they become intentional about transformation and provide clear direction to the team they lead.

She further noted that leaders can achieve their goals if they take steps to ensure the team members are aligned and motivated to reach the projected destination.

“A true leader knows where they are going and can envisage the future. They also go the extra mile to paint a vivid mental picture of where they want the team to go. It is however important for leaders to understand the capabilities and strengths of their team members.” she added.

Speaking at the opening session of the event, Joyce Ahiadorme, President, Women in PR Ghana expressed her excitement over the successes chalked by Women in PR Ghana Community.

Key among these she said was the community’s contribution in shaping Public Relations professionals in the country.

“I am particularly excited because I find these events as a great opportunity to reflect on these achievements and strategise on the approach to improve on the community’s impact.

As part of the event, Shirley Tony Kum, Corporate Communications Manager, Vivo Energy, Ghana, and Naa Korkoi Essah, PR Manager, Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation who were named among the 2022 top 10 Women in PR Ghana were invited to share among other things, how they have navigated professional challenges to remain successful and relevant in their careers.

According to them, their resilience towards excellence accounted for their achievement and successes.

The event was a night of glamour, which brought together female professionals and students in the PR and Communications industry to celebrate their achievements for the year and network with one another, while they fortify themselves for leadership opportunities in 2024. Ohenewaa Brown was the MC for the event.

With good food, drinks and great conversations, the event did not only provide a space for learning but also for building connections and fostering a supportive community within the industry.
